Cowboys vs. Redskins: An Ageless Tale

On Sunday, October 14, 2013 the Dallas Cowboys dominated the field against the Washington Redskins and took the position of first place in the NFC East. The Dallas team came out on fire, scoring their first touchdown of the night during the first possession of the game. In ten plays and just over six minutes, quarterback Tony Romo and his squad set the tone for the Sunday night match-up.

T he Redskins worked hard up and down the field but quickly found themselves down eight points at the half. While the Redskins and their fans had high hopes for QB RG3, who suffered a knee injury at the end of the 2012 season, the young quarterback was simply not on the mark last night. After two fumbles, one interception, and zero touchdown passes, the Redskins team was desperate for someone who would lead them to a victory. Romo, on the other hand, displayed a side of himself that we, as NFL fans, have been waiting to see.

T hroughout the game, Romo showed glimpses of his true ability and talent as an NFL quarterback, when he repeatedly escaped the pressure of the Redskins defensive line and completed passes that would advance his team down the field. After losing running back, Demarco Murray, the Cowboys relied on rookie, Joseph Randle, who had never carried the football before Sunday. While he gained only 17 yards on 11 attempts, Randle was able to score the touchdown that sealed the game for the Cowboys and allowed them to celebrate a 31-16 victory.

W ith a record of 3-3 and a team on a mission, it is possible that the Cowboys will remain on top of the NFC East, but not without a fight from the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles sit right behind the Cowboys in the division and will fight for the title next week in Pennsylvania.

A fter years of instability, have the Cowboys finally found their balance? Do they have a future in the playoffs this season? What does the loss of Demarco Murray mean for the Dallas offense?
