Is Trickett the Ticket?

Two weeks ago, the West Virginia Mountaineers celebrated a landslide victory over the Georgia State Panthers and were hoping to keep the momentum flowing into the following week. Unfortunately, that was not the case as the Mountaineers and fans traveled to Baltimore only to be goose-egged by the Maryland Terrapins. Throughout the week leading up to the game, tensions arose when players of the Maryland team expressed their confidence in beating the Mountaineers. At the end of the day, they backed it up and defeat their opponent 37-0.

The Mountaineers looked amped and ready during the pre-game warmups and fans were excited as they packed into M&T Bank Stadium. The forecast called for rain, but the Terrapins did not let that ruin their parade. Mountaineer, Shaq Rowell, spoke out on behalf of the team and stated multiple times during an interview that the squad simply lost the game on all sides of the ball, offense, defense, and special teams. One thing that really stood out to fans and speculators was the poor performance by WVU QB Ford Childress, who found himself moving up from 3rd string QB to starting QB in the matter of a few days.

Along with the rest of his team, Childress struggled to find success on the field last Saturday afternoon. The person who we called a leader, just last week, left his team stuck in the mud and scoreless. It was recently reported that Childress developed an injury in his arm during last week’s game, but it is nothing that would be season-ending.

Thursday night, the West Virginia coaching staff announced that QB Clint Trickett would be this Saturday’s starting quarterback against Oklahoma State. The Mountaineers will host the Cowboys in Morgantown this Saturday afternoon at 12 P.M.

Is Trickett the golden ticket for this bumpy Mountaineer train ride?
