OLYMPIA SHAKESPEARE IS A BRAND!

E2W magazine recently had the pleasure of chopping it up with NYC stylist-Olympia Shakespeare. From jump, you can look at this lady and see that she must work in the fashion industry. She is often asked by strangers, “what do you do?” everytime she hits the scene. Olympia is always changing and creates her own trends. She has a variety of clients who couldn’t be more different- a video director one day, a business man who just needs help getting styled for a work event the next day! She will always make sure you are appropriately dressed for the occasion at hand, but with a twist of course.

Olympia has swag spilling over and is ready to “brand” the audience for the summer, particularly the ladies, so get the pen and pad ready for notes that are worth a milli!

E2W: WHO WOULD BE YOUR DREAM CLIENT?

OLYMPIA: My dream client would be anyone who allowed me to style them in a public forum. Like the Oscars, Grammy,Espy, Country Music Awards,etc.. But if I had to choose it would be  Estelle and Fantasia.

OLYMPIA: The best advice I could give is to hustle hard, do lots of internships, work for free sometimes, get your name and business out in the industry.

Tattoo artists are a dime a dozen these days, but to find skill, quality, integrity and an artist who was raised in Italy, born in Brooklyn, lived in Queens, Staten Island, the Bronx, Florida and North Carolina, is hard to do!

Chance is a tattoo artist who specializes in body art and has an unusual passion for the game. His childhood was difficult, losing his parents at a young age and having a mother who had an addiction problem, left some scars, but made him a stronger man. “My mother left me in a covenant one time and I couldn’t believe that she wasn’t coming back, but as I got older, I realized that was her way of keeping me safe because she had a problem.”

MIC DUBB SONGBOOK PUBLISHING MID WEST HIP HOP E2W MAGAZINE

Being a native New Yorker, I must admit that I had been conditioned to listen to strictly New York Hip-Hop. But, after listening to some of the tracks from MIC DUBB, I instantly became a fan of his music. Having had been in the music game for some years now, Mic Dubb is blazing the underground and the Mid-West with some creative music that transcends the Midwest and across the nation. With the highly anticipated 911 Mix-Tape coming January 29th 2013, an interview with him was definitely becoming, and hopefully an introduction to a wider audience of listeners.

DJ SUPERIOR CEO MH E2WMAGAZINE

Thinking back into time, it was apparent to me who an individual was that played a pivotal force in DMX’s career, and the RUFF-RYDERZ. It is the familiar, DJ Superior. I remember him from building #34 in Emmett Burke Gardens, also known as Mulford Gardens. I remember him staying in the basement apartments in the back of the building across from the laundry room. Upstairs on the fourth floor lived my aunt, (Raw Rome); Jerome Enders lived below us on the third floor.

Speaking to Superior gave me more insight into his career and personal growth. As we spoke, Superior mentioned that he was currently on the road with one of his partners (Chef daddy OG), and they were on Warburton Ave., in Yonkers, New York. He also mentioned that he was getting ready to get a slice of Pizza from Nigel’s Pizza place. Nigel’s is familiar to me, because I once lived in the area. It was located next to the famous School #12. Nigel’s was the place where you could get a slice of pizza and a soda for a $1.00 back in the day.

It was 9’oclock pm and I was finally making the call that was long awaited. For 3 months, I’ve been meaning to sit down with this mother who I met at a press event for EducatNYnow.org I had organized. As I was speaking at the podium, I saw this woman with her all white pants and jacket with a purple blouse underneath, black glasses and her hair pulled back in a bun. She sat smack in the middle of the almost empty seats in front of me. I will never forget that moment because her energy was so strong I felt the vibe that she represented something important and she had something to say.
