Two weeks ago, the West Virginia Mountaineers celebrated a landslide victory over the Georgia State Panthers and were hoping to keep the momentum flowing into the following week. Unfortunately, that was not the case as the Mountaineers and fans traveled to Baltimore only to be goose-egged by the Maryland Terrapins. Throughout the week leading up to the game, tensions arose when players of the Maryland team expressed their confidence in beating the Mountaineers. At the end of the day, they backed it up and defeat their opponent 37-0.

With his long and flowing hair, Ford Childress of the West Virginia Mountaineers became the talk of social media sites, as Mountaineer fans referenced his physical features to that of Ronnie ‘Sunshine’ Bass, of the popular football picture “Remember the Titans.” While his looks were comparable, Childress’s ability to step up on the field when the Mountaineers really needed him is what people are talking about now.

By seven years old, Mayweather Jr. was fitted for his first pair of boxing gloves and has yet to hang them up for good.

On September 11, 2001, the nation witnessed unparalleled destruction. Weeks, months, and years after the feeling of dread and loss loomed in the air. 12 years later, the U.S. is still recovering from the emotional and physical trauma and loss.

The paranoia of vulnerability of American citizens continues, but 9/11 should be a reminder of just how vital world peace is and how far we as a nation have to work to achieve it.

The NFL is screaming, “enough is enough” regarding Detroit Lions defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh after he blindsided Vikings center, John Sullivan with an illegal block to the knees. Sullivan, the six-year returning veteran, had just undergone micro-fracture knee surgery during this passed offseason and was able to avoid a possible season-ending injury. Sullivan also went on record saying, “there needs to be consequences when guys don’t respect the careers of other players.”

As the NFL Sunday opening day approached, fans and analysts around the league were excited to watch the Game of the Week, as the New York Giants flew to Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys. The game arrived with a lot of chatter because of the division rivalry between the two teams. It was also announced earlier in the week that the Giants were undefeated at At&T Stadium, but the Cowboys are undefeated against the Giants in season openers. The game would determine which team would prevail, and in the end, the Cowboys lassoed the win.

Last night, the Denver Broncos hit the field with an intensity that knocked the Baltimore Ravens off their feet, literally. Naturally, the Ravens came out to play with a chip on their shoulders, as the reigning champions were forced to travel for their season opener, but the Broncos came out with an even bigger chip against the Ravens. Last January, the Broncos were knocked out of the playoffs by the Ravens and on the Broncos’ home turf, taking Denver out of the running for the title of Super Bowl Champions.
