This video is a (live on location production.) It is a glimpse of the struggle that “Soca” music had to overcome in, The U.S..

In an effort to bring to you an authentic perspective, I had to travel to East Orange and the surrounding cities to gather enough information from true Trinidadians.
My trip started off by linking up with some old friends in the city. Then, I was introduced to Soca artist, Kerry John. Who had a smash hit on the airwaves called, “Drink King.” Throughout the day, I engaged in multiple conversations about the struggles of Caribbean music in America.
We then drove to, “CastAway.” A local restaurant and bar that specializes in, Caribbean music and food. While there, I met “Daniel Ravon.” Soca music’s soldiers. He has been fighting for Soca music to be played in New Jersey for years and has made great success in that area. This is a (Part 1) of an in depth look into to the struggles of Caribbean music in the U.S.A..
